August 30
Today was a pretty chill day... It had been kinda gloomy and rainy for the past couple of days so I just woke up, did some laundry, and then went to the gym to swim for an hour. When I came back I just watched Netflix and did homework until I met up with our Sogn group to buy ingredients for the pizza we are planning on making together tomorrow. After that was more homework and then some more Netflix... :) It was a lazy day, but sometimes you just need to have those kinds of days to relax and regroup!
I do worry that they will all turn into lazy days soon, as the weather quickly turns worse... I have to keep reminding myself that I am only here for a short time and I need to get out there and explore while I still can! I shouldn't care about the weather (it is just going to get worse from here) and I can always dress appropriately and bring an umbrella. A little rain and cold won't kill me. Also I shouldn't be toooooo worried about money. That's what student loans are for right? (Future Sara is cringing, looking back and reading this (Sorry!, Love you!)). But when else am I going to get the chance to be here and do these things!? I don't want to have any regrets. I can afford to have some fun, without going overboard of course!

Today started out with a 2 1/2 hour trip to the gym. Yup.... Yup. Not entirely by choice, but I still had a lot of fun and got in a good workout. I went with Fabian, Frieda, and Eva and we even played some basketball! It is a pretty nice facility and a lot of the equipment looks really new. After that, we came home and I ate lunch, showered, and did some homework. Later that evening, our Sogn group got together again (Me, Frieda, Zita, Fabian, Franzi, and Eva) and we made pizzas from scratch! And yes Jim, I did put corn on mine... and it was good! I was really impressed at how easy they were to make and how well they turned out! :) After that they wanted to watch a German crime show, but I decided to go back home and do some more homework because MY FAMILY IS COMING TOMORROW!!! :D I can't wait for them to get here and I am so excited to show them around Oslo!

I guess Labor Day in only an American holiday... :P I woke up early and went on a run (more of a struggle... can that be a synonym for running? "I went on a struggle this morning.","I struggled 10 miles yesterday!"... I think it could work!) I came back and showered and then cleaned my room and got my stuff together so that I could go to campus early and get some homework done. I was really productive too! I think I can see the finish line... for now anyways. I caught up on reading and copying lecture notes for all of my classes!
My mandatory Genetics colloquium was scheduled at the same time as my Psychology class, but Fabian was nice enough to tell me anything important that happened since I couldn't be there. :) The colloquium turned out to be a sort of study group get together. We were given study guides for the chapter we just read and then split up into small groups to answer the questions. I was really surprised at how well I kept up and how many answers I knew! I guess all of this extra reading and homework I am making myself do is really paying off! Keep it up Sara! I feel like this class isn't as threatening or intimidating as I thought it was in the beginning. It is a lot of hard work, but I think I am keeping my head above water.
After class I made my way to the hotel to meet my family, but their flight got delayed and they made an accidental detour towards Sweden in their rental car, so I finished my homework while I waited in the lobby. It is such a weird feeling... NO HOMEWORK!! :D
When they finally got there, I was so excited!!!! It was my mom, my Aunt Molly, and then my Grandma and Grandpa who came. I helped them carry their luggage up and then we sat around and had a glass of wine while they told me about their few days in Iceland. It sounded really cool! They got to swim in the Blue Lagoon, eat lots of fish, and they were there when the volcanoes were erupting! Jealous... After they relaxed for a bit, we went to Dolly Dimples and had some really good pizza and talked some more. I am so glad they are here and it seems almost unreal... My family is here... visiting ME... in NORWAY!? I know these next few days are going to be full of adventure and laughs and I am really looking forward to sharing Norway with them. <3
P.S. Thank you Aunt Erin for the card and money!!! :)
