October 28
Today I had my Genetics lecture and then my last Genetics lab! We used PCR to analyze and determine mutated plants and their genotypes/phenotypes. The lab went pretty smoothly and we even got to see a secret greenhouse where they keep and grow all of the mutated plants, which I thought was neat. That lab lasted 5 hours and by the time I got out (5 p.m.) it was pitch black outside and so I made my way home.
I had my first Kinder eggs! It is where they put toys inside hollow chocolate eggs. I think they are banned in the USA because they are a choking hazard, but I have always wanted to try one!
It is weird to think that I only have three more days of classes left!!? Then I have a two week break until my first two finals and then a month until Genetics. :$ Weird...

I was running late this morning and just as I was walking down the street away from my dorms, my backpack decided to explode on me! I quickly grabbed everything that fell out, shoved it into a shopping bag and headed off to school, but now I am not sure what to use for Dublin and bringing my laptop and souvenirs back home because I am afraid to put anything heavy in the backpack in case it breaks open again... :/ Maybe I can pick up an inexpensive backpack somewhere or just wing it until I get back.
I made it to my Political Utopias lecture a bit late, but it was all good. After, I stayed up in the computer lab to get some work done and worked out at he gym on my way home. After that, I just chilled for the rest of the night, but this has been one of my most productive days in a long time! :)
October 30
I went running again this morning and then got ready for the day, even though I didn't have any classes. I weatherproofed my new shoes, did some laundry, read for homework, and made some cat ears out of a headband and the cardboard from my goggles case as a very last-minute-broke-college-student Halloween costume for tomorrow. :)
I also got to Skype with Michelle and catch up with her! (Hi Michelle!) My new bank card also arrived that my mom had sent me! That was a big relief and Thank you SOOOO much Mom for helping me with it! :) Love you! Other than that, I have just been blogging my last post and getting this one ready to post tomorrow (today) so that I am officially all caught up!

Happy Halloween!!!
I started my day off by having my last Genetics lecture! Woohoo!!! :D After class, I did some grocery shopping and then headed off to coffee hour and hung out with Lexy and her friends. The two hours flew by and before we knew it, we had to head home. They invited me to watch some Halloween movies, but I think our Sogn group had other plans to hang out, so I had to decline.
Once I got home, I showered and then started getting ready! I decided to go as a cat for Halloween! Its probably the most typical college girl costume, but it was easy and cheap. Just wear all black and put whiskers on your face... All set! Once I was ready, I headed over to Marlene's and met up with her, some of her flatmates, Lotte, Fabian, his friend, and a Canadian. We played around with some of the Halloween makeup and once it got late enough, headed over to the student pub, Amatøren, for their Halloween party.
There weren't many people there when we got there, but there was a live band that played for half an hour after we got there. They were really good, but were playing old slower songs... not very Halloweeny, Once they finished, a lot more people showed up and the party started. I have noticed that in Norway, for both live and DJ'd music, they just end songs like 3/4 of the way through in an awkward spot and then there is a moment where it is silent before they play the next song. I thought that it was weird and a bit annoying. Once more people showed up, everyone started dancing and we all had a lot of fun!
The party ended around 2 a.m. and so we all headed home at that point and called it a night!
I don't think Halloween is all that popular in Norway. It might be because I am in Oslo, a city, and so it may be hard to trick-or-treat. I have also heard that the older people do not like the holiday because the teenagers seem to take the trick part a little too seriously. I can see their point.
Overall, I had a great night and I just realized that this has been my first major holiday away from home while studying abroad!? It wasn't as bad/hard to get through as I thought it would be and I had a lot of fun partying with friends and getting in the spirit of Halloween!
Happy Halloween Everyone!!!
